Colin made his first corporate film, advertising an after school activities project, aged 16 using a borrowed Hi-8 camera and his home VCR. Despite brief forays into writing, non-linear editing, journalism, psychology research and stand-up comedy (among other things!) his career has developed (more or less) steadily from there. Through his apprenticeship as a camera assistant, he developed a strong practical understanding of cinematography. This is combined with an analytical academic background and an active interest in art and literature, which make him well suited to the creative demands of his craft. His passion for the creative and technical aspects of the process is evident in all his work and the variety of projects that he has undertaken. He is comfortable shooting on all formats from 35mm to DV and HD. Colin is also a steadicam operator and enjoys experimenting with different styles and techniques to achieve the right look.
